1. First Lady Michelle Obama - It would be a dream come true to see our First Lady, as elegant as she is, werking her natural hair at 1600 Pennsylvania.....But we know it's never going to happen. Not that I don't think it is something she would consider, but I can just hear the right wing already - 'Look at the First Lady of the United States of America wearing a Black Power afro. Who does she think she is representing the radical black racist movement with her hair!! Let's impeach Obama!' You might think I'm being over the top, but do you remember this little ditty from New Yorker Magazine, circa 2008? I rest my case.
2. Joy Reid - For those of you who may not know, Ms. Reid is the managing editor of The Grio, and regular MSNBC contributor. (I have a feeling she is being groomed for her own show on the network....let's hope so! She is brilliant and super quick on the uptake. She takes no mess, and goes toe-to-toe with the political giants on the cable networks. #SistasMakingMoves). This stunning member of the literati would absolutely SLAY, if she were rockin' a TWA or a mini-twist out. Perfect bones, perfect eyes, perfect skin. You do the math.
3. Naomi Campbell - Not only is Mizz Campbell known the world over for her timeless beauty, she is also known for her killer weaves. Let's be honest - she looks like she personally snipped the tresses off of Pocahontas herself. Nobody can touch those waist length locks. Her problems with traction alopecia have also been widely publicized, and scrutinized in recent years however. I would love for her to cancel all bookings and appointments for a couple of months, go on a retreat with a hair and scalp specialist, and get her hair in order. Could you imagine Naomi wearing a huge kinky, flowing 'fro? I could. #Flawless.
4. Shonda Rhimes - Her name may or may not be familiar, but her work certainly is. She is one of the most powerful writers/show runners in television today, responsible for bringing us Grey's Anatomy, and the very juicy Thursday night hit 'Scandal'. I would love to see her walk across the stage to collect her next Emmy award with her natural hair coiffed into a beautiful kinky up-do.
5. Towanda Braxton - The Braxtons have good genes. Great genes if we're being honest. The 5 sisters are each pretty in their own right. But Towanda stands alone as a true beauty. Her chiseled check bones would look divine framed with soft, chunky twisted out kinks or perhaps with those same chunky twists piled loosely on top of her head. - YB
